6, 2018, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) posted an Airworthiness Directive (AD) notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) for Pro Line 4 and 21-equipped operators equipped with FMS 3.3X through 4.X to address an issue that can occur when a “Climb To” altitude has been edited either manually or by using the Temperature Compensation (Temp Comp) feature. This may be a stupid question, but I wish to verify with multiple sources prior to purchasing. To our valued pilots and directors of flight operations,

Since, I often times find myself flying on VATSIM and unable to execute the SID/STARs the controller sends. It appears I am gong to have to obtain myself a payware FMC in order to have the current AIRAC updated in the FMC.

I appreciate your patience and understanding along with your assistance in helping me correct my deficiencies in my information. I'm confident I understand the differences between the two programs. Upon reading, and be sure I didn't miss anything I read again, your reply. On the other hand, if you own a nice freeware aircraft that is not supported by Navigraph, then you are out of luck (or the developer steps in and provides the database)Dear nuitkati, On the other hand, if you own a nice freeware aircraft that is not supported by Navigraph, then you are out of luck (or the developer steps in and provides the database) And only this aircraft will be able to use that data in the FMC. If you own a PMDG aircraft, you have to buy either Navigraph or NavdataPro for this particular aircraft to get the newest AIRAC. Navaids may or may not be RNAV waypoints in an AIRAC cycle, but by no means are all RNAV points navaIds! It is completely indifferent to the waypoints your FMC wants to follow, and it doesn't provide any information to that effect. In the real world, the RNAV waypoints and jetways dont have any geographical or technical significance (like a radio beacon has), they only exist on charts and in the FMCs of the planes. FSX itself doesnt read or use them, and it doesn't have to know either. Navigraph is an external database of RNAV waypoints that are defined in an Airac cycle for specific FMS types. Another part provides BGLs with fixes in them, to be used in the FSX flightplanner. Sors updates the NAVAIDS inside FSX, it messes with the radio beacons and stuff. Sors and Navigraph are completely different cups of tea. US Airways Virtual Airlines Fleet Program Manager Hopefully the Honeywell FMC will pick up on the newly installed Navigational data to correctly display the latest SID/STARs I'm doing a re-install of Sors at the moment to verify this.

When installing the Sors into FSX if I am understanding this correctly this will install the latest navigational data into FSX. I have downloaded the Sors for FSX, it seems to be the same as Naqvigraph am I correct in this? If so it seems silly to me to have the freeware Sors available while paying for the Navigraph. That has cleared up some of the misconceptions I had regarding Navigraph and FSX. FSX has nothing to do with this, it just provides the world you execute your RNAV flightplan in.Dear nuitkati, So it can follow the actual RW flightplans, SIDs, STARs. How does one incorporate the current AIRAC in FSX? Not at all. So, does Navigraph do anything for freeware aircraft? Not that I'm aware of, but you need to check.

You can then update it's internal database, that's all. So, if you own an aircarft with working FMC, you need to check Navigraph or NavdataPro if they support this aircraft. They don't really change anything in stock FSX at all, instead they offer the databases for the FMCs in the airplanes that have one - and are supported. Navigraph and Navdata Pro are a different matter entirely. What Sors' updates do is implementing the changes on navaids, like VOR,NDB, that took place in the RW since the release of FSX. As I dont use those anyway, no big deal for me. AFAIK it can mess up the FSX flightplanner and map. As far as I can tell they work, but be mindful of the warnings he gives concerning the update.
